Great to be back, but sad the trip was over. Bo was very happy to be making his walk to the grass around familiar people on I-Dock. The wind began picking up later in the afternoon of 8/22 as forecasted, so we were glad we arrived when we did.

Our objective the first night back in Kenosha was to lay low. We told very few people of our arrival date so we would have some time to decompress.  We walked to Kaiser’s for dinner and made it an early night.

The next couple days were spent cleaning and preparing for our return to the “Dirt Dwelling” as they are called by those living on boats. We limited our boat chores to make sure we had plenty of time to catch up with our friends at the marina. The weekend was great fun with familiar faces and lots of laughs.

We had been living on Fahrfromwurken for over a year, so the move home would take a few trips. Brian rented a pickup from the local Enterprise and we began moving our belongings to the truck on August 25 one dock cart at a time. Two hours later we were ready to head home. We departed Kenosha and arrived home at 4:35pm. Bo was so excited he could hardly control himself. His first move was to the backyard, he found one of his throw toys and ran around the yard like a maniac until he was ready to drop. We tried to capture his excitement on video (see video section of the blog) but he was moving around so fast it was hard to keep him in frame.

We unpacked the truck while Bo happily laid around the backyard and his favorite place on the family room couch. He was very happy dog. We walked over to the local sports bar for dinner and to catch up with our friends over there. It took two more trips to Kenosha to get everything home over the next couple days. We were once again official “Dirt Dwellers” on August 27th.
