Off to a slower start today, 9:35AM cast-off. (But it was a long walk to shore for Bo and to return our key.) To get from Hammond to Joliet, we’d have to go under many bridges (antennas and dinghy crane lowered to fit), as well as several more needing to be opened for us, plus get through two locks. Oh no, not locks! When we brought this boat to Kenosha from the previous owner in western WI, we went through the same waterways between Kenosha and Grafton, IL (where the Illinois and Mississippi rivers meet), except we were traveling in the opposite direction. We had one very long and stormy wait for the Lockport lock on that trip, so we were thrilled today when we were able to drive right into both locks – no waiting – in, lowered and out! Our only hang-up was that Joliet doesn’t open bridges for water traffic during rush hour so we waited about an hour to get through the 1st of 4 bridges there. Once through those, we tied up to the wall by a pretty little park, turned on the generator and AC, and called it a day! Now if we can get our internet issues solved, we could actually post to our blog!
