After just over an 8-hour day on the river, including a 3 hour wait at the Starved Rock lock, we made it to our Henry Harbor tie up on the abandoned lock wall at 5:15pm. Abandoned is appropriate for the ambiance, but doesn’t do it credit since it was actually the first lock & dam built on the Illinois river in 1870, last used in 1927. Quick dinner at the only open restaurant on Monday night, The Landings at Henry Harbor, walk to the grocery store & called it a night.
