Coinjock is the last Marina on the ICW before making the final push to Norfolk Virginia (mile marker 0 on the ICW). Coinjock was the word used by the Native American's for "land of the mulberry bushes" though some translations say it is blueberry bushes. Either way there don't appear to be mulberries or blueberries nearby this small unincorporated communitiy of 335 people (at the 2010 census, maybe more like 350 or so now).

The marina is right along the edge of the ICW with a 1200-foot face dock. It is very well managed. As you pull in, the dockhands are there to help you tie up and make sure they get the boats very close together to make use of every foot of dock space. We were the 5th boat when we pulled up, but there were over 20 by the time they filled up the entire dock. Every type of sail boat and motor vessel in the area was represented.  Bo was once again pleased with this marina with nice green grass only a few feet away from the boat.

The marina is also known for its very good restaurant with their special 32oz. prime rib (that you need to order a day ahead). We passed on the prime rib for some other excellent options. Too full for dessert, Sue couldn’t pass up bringing a slice of banana-pineapple spice cake with cream-cheese frosting with a dash of cinnamon, back to the boat. OMG – it was fabulous, yet very rich so it took a couple of days to eat it.  That is a recipe she’d like to get her hands on.

The marina has some life-like duck lawn ornaments placed along one end of the dock. Bo did not spot them initially, but when he did, he was sure he had them right where he wanted them. After a brief stalking period, he got up to the first duck, only to find it to be made of plastic. Then the wind blew, and they all started to move. Oh no, which one to attack! Bark, bark, bark… but they all just continued sitting there instead of flying off as they should.  (see the video of Bo stalking the fearless ducks of Coinjock).

Bo will likely need some sort of therapy which we hope we can find online since it will be quite a few weeks before we get home.
